Socria Logos 3

The current Logos, now 3.5: the conversation, the map, models the engine solves and designs drawn in 3D from your words, in one workspace — and room for a second person.

Logos 3 is the current Logos: one workspace for a hard problem. Say what you are working through and it builds beside you — a live Thinking Map of your reasoning, models the engine builds and solves, and designs drawn in 3D from your words — in tiles you arrange, with the four depth modes in the model picker. And there is room for a second person: two people think in one line of thinking, and Socria sits between them.

One workspace#

  • The map draws your reasoning as you talk — claims, assumptions, tensions, evidence — in your own words.
  • Models are built by the engine when what you describe is a system: a mechanism, a field, a reaction, a set of equations, a relationship in data. Every control recomputes them; everything the Logos 2 page describes — the views, the inspector, editing by saying so, undo — is here.
  • Live 3D draws a part from its description — a bearing, a wing section, a heat sink — with its measured volume and mass. A geometric preview, said to be one: nothing is loaded or analysed.
  • Tiles you arrange. + View opens the map, a model, its parameters, Live 3D or what Socria remembers beside each other, and the arrangement is kept.

What it builds, live#

Each figure below is built on this page by the product’s own code from the request above it — the model through the same on-ramp a conversation uses, the design by Live 3D’s own reader. Move the controls; turn the design.

YouTwo 1 kg masses in a line: the first on a 100 N/m spring to the wall, joined to the second by a 50 N/m spring. What are its natural frequencies?

Two masses, two natural frequencies — starting…
Two masses, two natural frequencies. Integrated live; the engine finds both modes. Change a spring and both move.

YouModel A → B → C with k₁ = 0.5/min and k₂ = 0.2/min. When is the intermediate B at its peak?

Consecutive reactions A → B → C — starting…
Consecutive reactions A → B → C. Integrated live. Move either rate and watch B’s peak move.

YouA steel rod 0.5 m long is at 20 °C. One end is put into boiling water and held at 100 °C; the other end is insulated. How does the heat travel along it over two hours?

Heat along a rod — starting…
Heat along a rod. The heat equation, solved on a grid as you watch.

Youa steel cylinder 0.1 m in diameter and 0.08 m tall called hub, then an aluminium box 0.6 m wide, 0.01 m tall and 0.08 m deep at (0.35, 0.04, 0) called blade, rotate it 12 degrees about x, then copy it 2 times around the hub

A three-bladed rotor — starting…
A three-bladed rotor. Drawn in 3D by Live 3D from the description above. Drag to turn it.

Two people, one map#

Both people see the same conversation, the same map and the same models, as they change. Every line a person writes is signed with their name in their own colour, and every idea on the map carries a dot saying whose it was — so a glance tells you which of you said the thing you are now arguing about.

Starting a room#

  1. Pick Logos 3.5 in the model menu — it is listed under think together.
  2. Press Think together in the header. A room opens around the line of thinking you are in, and the header shows an invite with the room’s code.
  3. Press the invite to copy the link, and send it. The other person opens it, signed in, and is seated beside you. The header then reads Thinking together, with both your initials.
  4. Leave ends your part in the room; on your own, it is Logos 2 again.

What Socria does between you#

With two people in the room, Socria stops being a third voice and becomes the layer between you. It knows who said what, and its job narrows to making visible what is between you:

Connections
Where something one of you said bears on something the other said — named, with both names.
Disagreements
What each of you is actually claiming, and what each would have to believe for it to hold. Made precise; never resolved for you.
Assumptions
What one of you is taking for granted that the other has not examined.
Questions
The one neither of you has asked yet, if there is one.

It never takes a side and never tells you who is right. Reaching that is the point of the two of you being there.

Whose words are whose#

  • A shared room is not saved into either person’s account. The room keeps its own record, and every entry in it carries who wrote it — so neither of you ends up holding the other’s words in your own history, exports or deletions.
  • Nothing from a room reaches what Socria remembers about you. The pass that learns how you think reads only your own lines of thinking, never a shared one, because it would otherwise fold the other person’s words into your private memory.
  • Socria is told the two first names in the room and nothing else about either of you.

What it does not do#

  • Two seats. Not three, and not an audience.
  • Both of you, at the same time. The room is live; it is not a document the other person reads later.
  • The model engine’s limits are on the Logos 2 page — the lenses, the moves on each card, the models and what they cannot do yet. All of it applies here.

Engineering examples#

What Logos 3 can build for engineering work — engines, mechanisms and vibration, circuits, beams and columns, cooling and flow, rockets and orbits, reactions, control loops — is on Engineering in Logos 3: the words to ask with, the model the engine builds, live, and the numbers it computes. The same page has CAD-style designs built in Live 3D from the chat — a bearing, an I-beam, a truss, a heat sink, a rotor and more — each drawn in 3D from the words that describe it. Maps and chaos — the road to chaos and Feigenbaum’s δ, a strange attractor, the Lorenz butterfly cut by a Poincaré section — are on Dynamics and chaos in Logos 3.
